I received my masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University, my doctorate degree from Walden University, and hold certification as a Dialectical Behavior Therapy therapist (DBTC). I have also completed Level 3 Practicum Training in the Gottman Method. I am licensed as an LLP in the state of Michigan to diagnose and treat mental illness as well as perform psychological evaluations, and I receive supervision from a fully licensed psychologist. In addition, I am appointed to sit on the Licensing Board of Psychology. I am committed to excellence by maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, and through continuing education to stay knowledgeable in up to date techniques, theories, and interventions. My dedication, passion, extensive trainings, skills, and warm personality make me a very effective clinician.
My experience includes court testimony in West Michigan in child sexual abuse/assault cases. In addition, I have worked with judges, lawyers, probation officers (adult and juvenile), Children’s Protective Services, the Children’s Assessment Center, and Fostercare Agencies.
While I am a native of Grand Rapids, I have had extensive training in the Latin American culture. My education includes 4 years of college level classes as well as education at Ideal Escuela de Espanol in Cuernevaca (Mexico) studying both the language and the culture. I continue to improve my skills through ongoing education with a personal instructor and interpreter (who works with me during sessions as needed). I take pride in my ability to serve a diverse population of clients.
In addition, I am a part of the ministry team at my local assembly. I am actively involved in promoting both spiritual growth as well as emotional health and stability within my assembly and its affiliates.
One of the things I really enjoy is doing presentations in a variety of venues. Visit my Speaker page if you are interested in learning more about me speaking for your event.
