MMy education consists of a Master’s Degree from Cornerstone University in Counseling with a focus in Interdisciplinary Studies which means I have a broad knowledge base. I am a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan, under supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor, and am trained and experienced in providing individual and family counseling with particular success with marriage counseling. In addition to my degree, I’ve received Tier 1, Military/Veteran Sensitivity training through Star Behavioral Health and am certified in treating active and veteran military personnel.
I have been counseling professionally for almost 4 years but helping individuals work through life issues has been a passion of mine for over 10 years. I am a highly skilled, compassionate, spiritual, sensitive, caring counselor committed to providing exceptional care while offering solution-based, holistic treatment plans that offer hope and change. I have experience with helping people work through anxiety disorders, drug & alcohol abuse, depression, addiction and domestic violence. I have spent the past two years as a crisis counselor diffusing stressful situations, proactively resolving long standing issues, helping people set and achieve challenging goals and objectives and steering people toward recovery from self-harming, suicidal ideation, and anger management issues. I have seminary background which has also enabled me to address ethical and moral matters, including problems of conscience and family differences.
I am an effective motivator, life coach and empowerment trainer and have recently become a youth advocate through the Grand Rapids Urban League. I believe life is a process during which many things occur. The challenge is our perspective and how we chose to look at life. There are times when the lenses through which we use to view life are clouded, but with the proper adjustments our vision can be much clearer.
My goal is not to change people but to help facilitate the change that they desire. For some, this may take longer for some than for others. I am willing to get down in the trenches with people to bring them to the place where they desire to be. I am dedicated to bringing out the best in people.
