My education consists of a Bachelor’s of Art in International Relations from Grand Valley State University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Education from Western Michigan University. I am licensed as an LLPC in the State of Michigan, allowing me to diagnose and treat mental health disorders. I receive ongoing supervision from a fully licensed professional counselor. In addition, I am certified in ecotherapy, which allows me to to take my clients outdoors and conduct both individual and group therapy in nature.
Whether working indoors or outdoors, I specialize in working with women in regards to self-worth and purpose, racial and biracial identity, process addictions in adolescents (i.e. mobile phone, video game, pornography), LGBT and gender identity issues, depression, chronic pain, trauma, and anxiety. I have worked with survivors of domestic violence, and with a variety of mental health disorders including dissociative disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Brief Psychotic Disorder as both a counselor and an inpatient psychiatric technician. In addition to these specialties, I have completed Level 1 training in the Gottman Method and offer couple’s counseling for a spectrum of relational dynamics.
I have received training in techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy but I place the most importance on the relationship that exists between myself and my client. As a clinician, the greatest resource I have is the innate knowledge that exists within the person I am working with. This voice has often been silenced; and in a safe, liberating environment can start to speak again. It is my honor to work with and support an individual courageous enough to begin this process of reconnection with self, discovery of hope, and manifestation of sustainable change.
