DBT SKILLS TRAINING
DBT Skills are empirically supported strategies to help a variety of clients enhance their capabilities to build a life worth living. They are a core component of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the evidence-based treatment for BPD, co-occurring disorders, as well as multi-problem and high risk clients. This training is geared towards teaching psychologists and mental health providers how to apply DBT Skills: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Walking the Middle Path, a fifth component of DBT used with adolescents. In addition, you will learn how to use Validation Skills to help keep your clients committed to the therapeutic process along with how to do Chain Analysis of behaviors so that you and your client can identify behavioral patterns and identify the DBT skills that will help promote change. This training will be conducted in an interactive learning environment using lecture, video, examples and exercises to illustrate teaching points.
